Pastor
Terry received his B.A. at the University of California Berkley, his MBA
at Long Beach State, and his Ph.D. at Columbia University in New York
City. During the next 28 years, he worked in academics in teaching,
research, and administration. He taught at Iona College in New
Rochelle, NY, the at University of Arizona, Kansas State University,
Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY and Northern Illinois University
(emeritus) for his last 10 years.
He took early retirement from Northern Illinois University in 1996, and received
his Masters of Divinity from
Northern Baptist Seminary and was ordained in the United Methodist
Church. He began serving his first church in Seneca, IL in July 1996, and
went to Earlville, IL in 1998.
In 2003, he took early retirement, and later
became the volunteer Pastor of Visitation at First UMC. For
two-and-a-half years, he was also the Chaplain for the DeKalb County
Hospice. He has lived in DeKalb since 1986, and considers the town and
First UMC his true home. He and his wife Madeline and have been married for
34 years; they have two children and six grandchildren.
