Scouting at First UMC |
|
 |
| Join us on Tuesday nights in the
Education Wing (321 Oak Street
in DeKalb) and find out more about the Scouting opportunities First UMC
has to offer for children of all aged and their families. |
 |
Cub Scouts is a
year-round family program designed for boys in the 1st through 5th
grades, or 7 to 10 years of age. The program emphasizes shared
leadership, learning about the community, family understanding,
character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Not
to mention, boys LOVE it! Boys who are completing
Kindergarten can join in May. |
 |
Boy Scouts will prepare
your boys for life. Under the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster, they will
develop character, discipline, leadership and personal fitness by
participating in our vigorous outdoor and peer group leadership program.
Just as important, your boys will have the time of their lives tackling
adventure after adventure, with the friends they make. Boys who
have completed the fifth grade can join at 10-years old. |
| Serving Our
Community through Scouting |
|

The mission of First UMC is to reach out to those within the
community, receive them as they are, relate them to God, nurture and
equip them, and send them back into the community in order to make the
community a more loving and just place in which to live.
Nurturing
children, teens, and families through outreach and evangelism and
incorporating them into the life of the church may have tremendous,
eternal results for the youth, their family and the Church.
Since 1919, First UMC has chartered Scouting, including
Boy Scout Troop 4 and
Cub Scout Pack 104.
These programs offer a unique opportunity to minister to young
people. These programs were chosen because of their teachings of faith,
long-standing connection with local congregations and their recognition
of the God and Country program. |
